קיבלו את הכנפיים הללו כ 30 איש, שבעיקרון לא עשו קורס טייס בחיל האוויר הישראלי, אך טסו במלחמת השחרור בטיסות מבצעיות, בעיקר בטייסת א’. בתחילה התייחסו לכנפיים כאל “פחותות” בחשיבותן אך בהמשך הן היו כנפיים שנושאיהן זכו לכבוד רב.
ככל הנראה הכנפיים שבמוזיאון שייכות לאבנר הלבני. אדם נוסף שנשא כנפיים כאלו היה איציק זוסמן.
לא ברור (לי) גם איך “העניקו” כנפיים. כי מח”לניקים ואחרים הלכו עם כנפיים ואיני יודע אם היה טקס “רשמי” בהן הוענקו להם הכנפיים באופן מסודר.
המדים והעיטורים שבמוזאון היו של ג’רי רנוב. בחלקו התחתון משמאל של התצלום נ”ל אפשר לראות תצלום שלו.
