Cover story and transitions: Due to the high intelligence overlap, many Shin Bet personnel operated under the cover of police officers, and some of the sensitive security investigations were officially conducted under the guise of the LATAM in order to give them legal and police validity vis-à-vis civilians.
The development of the organization: Over the years, as the Shin Bet established its separate legal status, the police’s special functions bureaus changed their designation.
