Electronic Warfare Squadron 157 “The Unit in the Valley” / “The Magic Mists” new Emblem white wings

·        Starting in 2022, Squadron 157 adopted a new symbol that represents its transition to a more technologically advanced operational unit under the modern branding of the Air Force. ·        • Change of designation and missions: Over the years, the squadron has undergone significant changes in the nature of its missions, from the types of systems it operates to closer integration into the air forces’ airborne formations.·        • Military standardization: In recent years, the Air Force has been leading a process of “rebranding” its units. As part of this, old symbols (sometimes those that were designed locally or amateurly in field units) are replaced with symbols with a uniform, professional and modern design line that are approved by the Culture and Heritage Branch.·        Regulating the status as a squadron: Although the unit became a squadron in 2006, many of its personnel continued to use variations of the mythical “Unit in the Valley” emblem. In 2022, it was decided to establish an official and final emblem that would appear on patches, flags, and official publications, while maintaining elements of the old heritage (such as the fog/cloud motif) but with a new interpretation. ·        The new emblem (starting in 2022) features cleaner lines and more distinct symbolism from the world of electronic warfare, distinguishing it from the historical emblems that were common in the 1980s and 1990s. ·        A change in the emblem of Squadron 157 in 2022 was intended to make it more modern and professional, moving from a “local” design of a field unit to an official emblem of the Air Force. .·        • Squadron name adjustment: In the new versions of the patches, the official inscription “157” and **”Magic Mists”** appear in uniform Air Force fonts, which was not always present in the early symbols of the “Unit in the Valley.”
