שירות תחבורה/חיל התובלה, השירות החל בדצמבר 1947 במסגרת ארגון ההגנה והמשיך בצהל. חלק מאמצעי ההובלה שלו בתחילת הדרך היו פרדות, סוסים, גמלים וחמורים, באוקטובר 1948 מנה השרות 8,000 כלי רכב . באוגוסט 49 בוטל חיל התחבורה-. פלוגות ההובלה הועברו לשירות ההספקה, השברת כלי רכב ורישומם הועברו לחיל ציוד וחימוש, ותיקון כלי רכב הועבר לשירות התיקונים, ב19- בספטמבר 1949 הפך שירות התיקונים לחיל הטכנאים.
